Let's Talk Lipstick

I've never really been a lipstick girl and have never been daring with lipgloss colors either — until now. Lately, I've been experimenting with different colors (including reds) and loving the results. What was I so scared of? Here are some of my rotating favorites.

My favorite red. Kevyn Aucoin / Endless
The perfect shade of hot pink. Mac / Girl About Town
Burgundy isn't just a trend for clothes and accessories! cle de peau / Rouge A Levres
Not ready for vibrant lipstick? This is your color! Chanel / Seduisante

January Favorites

It's so fun to look back on the month of outfits and get new ideas, understand what didn't work, and see what was a common theme for me. For January, it's obvious that I was playing with patterns! I've been drawn toward plaids, florals, and oversized sweaters this month and these pictures totally prove that. What was your favorite look for January?

Perfect Day Dress

Free People Dress, Target Boots, mark. Clutch c/o

We had company this weekend, which makes the weekend so much more fun! This particular one consisted of lounging by the pool, infamous happy hours, and spending Sunday eating brunch at my favorite local spot. How cliche, right? I hope you had just as a relaxing weekend as I did.

This dress? My new favorite. I bought it in Connecticut when I was home for Christmas break and have been wearing it ever since, and I'm not joking. I'm actually sad that I just dropped it off at the cleaners. It looks awesome with tights or bare legs and boots. It's versatile, fun, and perfect. I love when I find dresses like this one.

Plaid Shirt Days

Madewell Shirt (Similar), LOFT Skirt, J. Crew Necklace, Coach Wedges

I'm obsessed with plaid shirts. Obsessed. I love the downtown hipster vibe that they give off, and they have an instant cool factor that is unexplainable. I wanted to find another way to wear them, besides my usual black jeans and studded boots ensemble. Pairing this casual top with a fancier skirt and pearls was an unexpected combo, for me,  that actually worked. This blog definitely helps me get out of my comfort zone! Have a good weekend.

Etsy Finds

Shop this dish here!

I have this tradition of spending hours in Henri Bendel right before Christmas time to find my mom's gifts. We go together and then divide and conquer; it's quite comical. This year was no different. After walking around Bendel's and picking up her favorite Chan Luu pieces of the season, unique coffee table books, etc, I decided I wanted a gift that was a little more personal. That's when I went to Etsy to see what I could find.

After a little bit of a searching, I found mb art studios, which made simple, handmade, one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces with the cutest little sayings. Oh! and bonus— they're great to work with! I knew that it would be the perfect, sentimental gift for my mom to leave bedside and display her favorite rings. If you haven't yet, you must check this Etsy shop out!

Boho Flair

Free People Top and SweaterEileen Fisher PantsRebecca Minkoff Clutch, Coach Wedges

I can't deny that I've been living in oversized cardigans and have been pairing them with dresses, different patterns, and even pants! They have the potential to add a boho vibe to any outfit and give the perfect amount of "casual" to this fancier top. I wore this last Friday night while attending an end of the week happy hour with a girlfriend, and it was the perfect mix of my bohemian and casual style. I apologize in advance, but you will be seeing many more oversized sweaters from now on.

Strawberry Picking

Where have I been, and why is this my first time strawberry picking? I got the idea in my head while at the local farmers market with my boyfriend. If you know me, you know that once I get something into my head, I have a hard time letting it go. So, for about a month I talked about going strawberry picking until it actually happened. I also didn't think about it while getting dressed, but strawberries grow from the ground. Come on Alexa! These aren't apples. With that being said, a nice, crisp, beautiful white dress was probably the worst outfit option for the occasion— but now I know for next time, right?

Anyways, we picked strawberries and finished eating them within days. I really wish I could tell you that I made some cool recipes with the fresh berries, but I literally washed them and stood by the counter eating one after the other. I couldn't resist. I'm hoping to go back really soo, and maybe even pick some tomatoes next time!

Miami Beach

^ Isn't this park so beautiful and inviting?

Here are a few snapshots of my day trip to Miami Beach. I just can't get enough of Miami's energy (the photos don't do it justice)!
What I wore to Miami can be found here.

Boho Blush

alice + olivia Dress, Madewell Vest, Chan Luu Necklace. Bracelets: Club Monaco, Tai, Chan Luu

My mom and I took a day trip to Miami before my semester started. The weather in Florida has been hot, and Miami is such a casual city, so I wanted to wear something funky, yet light weight. This dress never seems to disappoint. I've worn it to a wedding, late night dinners in New York, and now during the day! You can't go wrong with blush and anything paired with a denim vest is okay in my book.

Weekend Wrap up

Isn't it sad I only have two photos from my weekend? This clearly states that I didn't partake in many fun activities, unless you think going to the library to work on an overwhelming amount of homework is fun. I don't. At least the end is in sight, right?

I was able to find a few escapes from the school work and spent one afternoon picking strawberries. Unfortunately, all of the strawberries have been eaten, so it's already time to go back. How was your weekend?

Pop of Pattern

DVF Jacket, Theory Top, Eileen Fisher Pants, Sam Edelman Sandals, H+M Bag, Anthropologie Necklace (Similar)

I've always loved a good patterned jacket; they are just too easy. I've wanted to pick up this number for awhile now but opted to wait patiently for it to go on sale before I snatched it up. It was worth the wait, especially since I've been rocking my all black New York style attire a lot lately. I hope you enjoy your weekend!
