Twenty Four Facts

I am officially one year older today. Yikes

1. Getting older completely terrifies me.
2. I started competitively swimming at the age of 4.

4. I go to Target at least twice a day and leave with items I really didn’t need.
5. I am currently getting my Masters Degree in Elementary Education.
6. I have a serious sweet tooth. I have a piece of dark chocolate daily.
7. I am way too shy.
8. I love working out and have recently started CrossFit.
9. CrossFit scares the hell out of me, but I’m addicted.

11. I have never dyed my hair.
12. My favorite color is dark purple or black.
13. I refuse to watch scary movies.
14. I have two siblings. I am the baby.
15.  I think that I can taste the difference in bottled water.

Cruciani

In July, I traveled to the Amalfi Coast of Italy (seen here, here, and here). I noticed all of the Italian girls wearing arm parties of colorful, unique bracelets that I had never seen before. During a day trip to Capri, I found the bracelets! Capri had just opened a Cruciani store that only sold these colorful gems. I, of course, ran in (along with every other girl) and picked up a few favorites, but I left regretting that I didn't get more. I am happily surprised that they can now be found online and have free worldwide shipping– bingo! I am also slightly embarrassed to admit that they are still in their perfect packaging from July. I have the best memories of Capri, and I just loved staring at them on my jewelry tray. Forget that! I'm rocking them tomorrow!

 I spent the weekend anticipating my first hurricane, which turned out to be nothing more than lots of wind and rain. Fortunately, it did cancel classes at my University and the elementary school that I work at. This made for a very relaxing Monday! Mondays are usually a bit chaotic for me, but it was a nice change to spend the morning riding bikes, walking around the outdoor malls and prepping for a full Tuesday. During my visit to the mall, I picked up this beaded headband to try and cure my bad hair day. I think it worked, right? What do you do to fix a bad hair day?

I spent the weekend waiting for Hurricane Isaac to roll through Florida, which basically meant sitting inside trying to keep entertained. Here are a few weekend shots of my current favorite finds!

 I was late on the stripe obsession, but after buying this dress, I find myself completely drawn to everything striped! Oh, and a dress with sleeves, long or short, is my favorite kind of dress. I am so inspired by street style looks. When I was able to visit New York City, after months away from it, I could feel my creative mind flowing. I've been feeling pretty blah about my style lately and completely miss living right outside of the fashion capital for daily inspiration. While being awkward, and staring down perfectly dressed city gals, I became obsessed with maxi skirts paired with a cropped top. One in particular was a white lace maxi skirt paired with an oversized, cropped tank with a faded American flag on it. Shortly after, I hit up H+M and Urban Outfitters and walked out with new tops that are perfect to revamp the skirts that are already in my closet. What street style has recently inspired you?

Weekend Wrap Up

I am back in Florida after a week of visiting Connecticut and New York City. I cannot believe the summer has officially ended, as I am back to reality with graduate classes starting today. After flying into Florida, I spent the remainder of the weekend getting organized, buying textbooks, and completing my first few homework assignments. I am kissing my social life goodbye, and I am ready to start my second, and my last, year of graduate school! How was your weekend?

Deep City Lights

My favorite outfit is one that is comfortable and casual yet stylish and put together all-in-one. I often hear people say that they are scared to wear maxi dresses or skirts, because the longer length makes them look frumpy or too casual. This is so far from the truth! They can be worn dressy, by pairing them with flirty silk blouses and chunky accessories, or casual, by pairing them with a simple sweater or cropped loose top. To me, both looks are perfect! And if you are on the shorter side, try the tea length instead. 

It can be so hard to find a work appropriate outfit. It's always the hardest when you're running late, having a bad hair day, and end up hating every single thing in your closet. Before you freak out, read the six effortless essentials you need to make early mornings a little less chaotic.

 Over the weekend I was able to spend some time by the shoreline in the town where I was raised. A maxi paired with a loose tank top tends to be a typical day-to-day outfit of mine, because most of my days consist of walking through campus from class to class. And on Sunday, that outfit also turned into casual beach wear when I realized I forget my bathing suit! As they have proven to be so versatile multiple times, I really do hope maxis never go out of style!

Weekend Wrap Up

I spent the weekend in Connecticut with my family. My aunt and cousin flew in from North Carolina for a visit, and we had so much fun eating at local restaurants and catching up. I made it a priority to get to Madewell for some serious shopping. (I get Madewell withdrawals, because the closest store to me in Florida is two hours away!) Did everyone watch the Spice Girls on the Olympic Closing Ceremony last night? I don't think my generation will ever not be amazed and enthralled by the Spice Girls. Jean jackets are the perfect extra layer to an outfit at any time of year. Layering a denim jacket is so easy, as it can be paired with anything from maxi dresses and skirts, or even with fancier ensembles, making them a bit more casual. I still have yet to pick one up, but once I find the perfect one, I'm confident that I will get so much use out of it. It will be the perfect jacket during the winter time in Florida.
