Sam Edelman For American Eagle

My friend Macey came to Florida with exactly one pair of causal sandals that broke to the point where they were unwearable. We suddenly panicked knowing we didn't have a lot of time to find a new pair of sandals before leaving for the night. We ran to an outdoor shopping center close by, but it does not have the best selection of stores. We went in and out of every store, wondering why Florida decides to sell boots over sandals when it’s 80 degrees outside. On a whim we decided to check American Eagle as we were walking by— which I haven't been in since the age of 14.  Being huge Sam Edelman fans, we were so happy when we realized he designed a line for American Eagle for Spring 2012. The sandals are cheaper (almost half price!) than his namesake line and just as cute! How did I not know about this? Go check them out!

P.S. There was also a neon green sweater which I think I'm going to go back to buy!

Weekend Wrap Up

I had an amazing weekend. My best friend Macey visited Florida and we rang in her 23rd birthday together. We laughed the entire weekend about the interesting people we met, lounged by the pool, hit up some local bars, and even ate a New York City themed birthday cake, complete with some Seventeen Magazine inspiration— Macey works at Seventeen, so it’s not that strange (or maybe it is?). When I explained to the baker what I envisioned for the cake, I wasn’t sure how it would turn out, but it came out amazing! The weekends always fly when I have visitors and this was surely no exception.

I've been receiving a lot of comments about my hair and decided to switch up today’s post and share some of my favorite hair and beauty products. Without products, I have frizzy, curly, and thick hair, and am always looking for the perfect magic solution to tame it. Since I was young, my all time favorite color combination has been purple, black, and green. I tend to buy a lot of purple pieces because my hair is so dark that the purple pops against it. Adding black (leather) and a touch of green easily transforms a simple silhouette into a complete outfit. I'm also obsessing over mixing gold chunky linked bracelets and cannot wait to add more to my collection!

Pale Pastels

I stuck with neutral shades for this outfit by pairing this patterned dress with a pale pink blazer. I love the soft green colors of the dress and how effortless and simple the outfit ended up being. Who says a casual outfit can't be chic and sophisticated?

Blending In

When I was younger I was not the smartest shopper— I would splurge on dresses that I wouldn’t get a lot of wear out of. As I've gotten older, I have found that less is more. I buy pieces that I know will get a lot of use and that I can mix and match with other items that are already in my closet. This skirt is no exception. I have posted about it one other time (here) but that is not a realistic reflection of how frequently I wear it. It's one of those skirts that if I'm in a rush to be somewhere I can put it on without thought or hesitation. I've definitely gotten my money’s worth!

Going Green

I wore this bright outfit to dinner last weekend. The Florida nights have been chilly, so I paired a bright green shade with a cropped black jacket. Usually I opt for dresses that are either strapless or scoop neck but this dress is a nice change, as it buttons behind my neck and emphasizes my shoulders. Sometimes it's nice to change it up and play with different silhouettes! 

Think Pink

I made a commitment to be more risky with bright hues after I bought this skirt and in a way it transformed my closet from consisting of lots of dull shades to pops of color. Sometimes with bright colors less is more. I usually pile on layers of accessories, but with this outfit I tried to keep the accessories minimal and let the skirt be the focal point of the outfit. The simplicity of this outfit makes it wearable for running errands or even a casual lunch.

Weekend Wrap Up

My friend Erica came to visit me in Florida for the extended holiday weekend. Going to graduate school in a state where the weather is always nice is a great incentive for friends to come visit me! Erica and I spent the weekend catching up, laying out, and going to some of the amazing restaurants that Southwest Florida has to offer. Having friends visit helps make the weeks fly by and knowing they will come back always keeps me happy!

Black and White

Theory Dress and Blazer, Coach Wedges, Dannijo Earrings

Blazers are a great way of making an outfit more put together and gives it a sense of sophistication. Personally, I have a growing blazer collection because I love adding fun colored or patterned blazers to my (rotating of course) favorite dresses. This blazer with leather detail is hands down, one of my favorites. Adding this number to a more feminine dress almost changes the look completely and makes the outfit a little less girly. Plus, I love a good black and white outfit.
