I tend to avoid splurging on cravings, when it comes to clothes, because I don't know if it's just a weird phase I am going through, or if I really love/want/have to have something.  Also, my cravings are somewhat sporadic and surprising when they range from bags (that I can't afford) to being completely satisfied with a piece of dark chocolate.  This is so not the case with leather vests.
I've been dying for one for years now, but I thought splurging on a leather jacket a few years back (which is probably my favorite purchase, ever) was more sufficient and weather appropriate at the time. While I was rocking my jean vest today, I realized how much use and wear I would get out of a leather vest. They are so versatile and can be paired with anything from denim and a tee or to toughen up a fancier maxi dress. How do YOU rock your leather vest?

And now, the inspiration!

Scenic Shots

Moving from Connecticut to Florida for graduate school has been quite the culture shock (to say the least). I miss the energy of New England, the beautiful Fall days, living close to New York City, and the list goes on. Even though I've been here a year, I'm still not fully adjusted to the differences in the lifestyle. Florida has been a place that I love to visit, because it is so simple, relaxing, and beautiful, and I think I may take advantage of that and not truly enjoy it.
This past weekend I decided to take a walk around the neighborhood and take in my beautiful surroundings. I must say, I live in paradise where each view seems more magical and picture perfect than the next. Life in Florida isn't so bad, but Connecticut will always be my home. Here are some snapshots from my adventure (I'm using my favorite 50mm lens!).

Weekend Wrap up

The coolest Santa's I've ever seen. They're so chill.

Thanksgiving weekend seemed like it came and went, and now it feels like the world is completely engrossed in the Christmas spirit (which is fine by me!). I spent the weekend with my family which equated to relaxing by the pool, boating, paddle boarding, and ending the weekend celebrating my nephew's birthday at one of my favorite restaurants. This year has flown by, and I can't believe Christmas is right around the corner! How was your holiday weekend? Or better yet, are you hitting up any of the Cyber Monday deals? Spill.

Thanksgiving Snaps

I hope you all had a wonderful and relaxing Thanksgiving. It was officially my families first Thanksgiving in Florida, and it was fun to be able to eat outside, play (watch for me) football on the sand, and take afternoon boat rides. I truly have so much to be thankful for. Here are a few Thanksgiving snapshots. Are you hitting the stores for Black Friday? I'm staying far away.

Leather Weather

Joie Dress, Theory Jacket, Ray Ban Sunglasses, mark. Earrings and Wallet c/o

I've been taking full advantage of the weather being in the low 60s at night by wearing my favorite layering pieces, especially my leather jacket. I definitely do not miss those cold, gray days of winter in Connecticut, but I do miss those perfect Fall days, where the sun is warm, but it's cool enough to break out boots and chunky knits. I'm glad I'm finally experiencing this weather in Florida! I hope you all have a great and relaxing Thanksgiving.

Weekend Wrap up

Can you believe that this Thursday is Thanksgiving? I honestly cannot grasp it. I think I want to believe it's still August, and that my semester is not coming to an end. I could use a few extra weeks to get my final projects done. Time really does fly. I spent the weekend getting ready for the holiday, finishing up last minute projects, and on Saturday, I took a break to sip wine and listen to a live band outside one of my favorite restaurants in downtown Naples. I hope you had a great weekend and took time to enjoy the little things, like this amazing pink sky that ended my Sunday night.

On the go

Madewell Dress, mark. bag c/o, Sam Edelman Loafers, mark. Necklace c/o. Bracelets: Oia Jules, J. Crew

When I'm on the go, this is the outfit I gravitate toward. It's comfy and casual yet stylish.  This dress feels like a cozy sweater, which is a bonus, and sometimes makes me feel like a little girl while wearing it—ha! As much as I love heels, I am 100% a flat shoes kind of girl. I never can understand girls who can go all day in killer heels and look completely effortless while doing it. Good for them. I'll never be one of them. When I'm headed for errands, or walking around campus, an oversized bag is necessary for carrying all of the essentials, and metallic makes this one so much fun! What does your "everyday" outfit look like?

Casually Cool

Patterson J. Kincaid Dress, Free People Sweater (on sale at Nordstrom), Stuart Weitzman Wedges, mark. Clutch c/o. Beads: Calypso, Target, Kate Spade

And my obsession with chunky knits continues (you can find some of my other favorites here). There is something really fun, cool, and unfussy about wearing an oversized sweater during the day and, mixing your favorite prints is always fashionable. My love for stripes is strong and this sweater is no exception. You can't have too many stripes, right?
