Transitioning to Fall

I love the start of fall. It is hands down my favorite time of the year. I love when the temperatures begin to cool down, and the leaves change to perfect shades of oranges. With the change of season comes the change of fashion, which tends to create this awkward transition at first. It's not cold enough for winter clothes, yet it's not hot enough for overly summer dresses. If you find yourself in this fashion road block, don't stress! Here's what to do! Before changing your closet over completely, add bits of Fall pieces a little at a time. Pick dresses for daytime that allow light layers, and keep your legs bare. As for the shoe— make it a boot! Day or night dresses with light layers and a killer boot (of your preference) makes for a perfect Fall transition. How easy! Here's some inspiration.

I Love New York

Wildfox Tee, Theory Jacket, Zara Skirt, Madewell Necklace, Chan Luu Earrings

One of my all time favorite looks is "dressed up casual." I love the idea of pairing a flirty, fancy piece with a completely casual top. I see girls master this look on other blogs, and street style, but implementing it, for me, never was as effortless as they made it look. After my trip to New York, I realized it's all about finding the perfect tee. It has to be extremely casual and slightly oversized. This skirt is on the fancier side, and paired with a cotton tee and leather bomber, it allows for a perfect dressed up casual outfit. And now you can currently find me ordering more Wildfox tees. I love this "I Love New York" one!

Emmy Awards 2012

Emily VanCamp in J. Mendel

Unfortunately, I did miss the Emmy Awards this year, but I was able to catch up on the red carpet fashion. The red carpet, to me, is the most important and exciting part of the Emmy awards. Am I right, or am I right? Here is my list of the best dressed stars of the evening. My top three? Emily VanCamp, Clare Danes, and Leslie Mann. I'd love to know what you thought!

Clare Danes in Lanvin

Jessica Pare in Jason Wu

Hayden Panettiere in Marchesa

Leslie Mann in Naeem Khan
Ginnifer Goodwin in Monique Lhuillier

Julianna Moore in Dior Haute Couture

Weekend Wrap up: New York City

I had such a fun, exciting weekend, and it was refreshing to switch things up and treat myself to a mini vacation. I flew to New York City on Friday morning to meet my mom and friend, Erica. We had absolutely no set plans besides relaxing and trying out new dinner spots. We ate at Buddakan on Friday night and Crown on Saturday night— both ended up being absolutely delicious. We also explored a new (for us) part of the city (Upper East Side) all weekend and ended up loving the quiet and serene atmosphere it had. I am now back to reality, unfortunately, and completely missing the beautiful Fall weather. Here are some snapshots from my trip. How was your weekend?

Falling for Fall

Madewell Skirt, H+M Sweater, Rebecca Minkoff Clutch, J. Crew Necklace

Hands down, Fall is my absolute favorite time of year. The weather is perfect, and the fashion changes to dark hues and leather (my favorite!). I'm totally missing Fall since living in Florida, but I've been trying to add little doses of it in my wardrobe. Nothing screams Fall more than a burgundy colored sweater, right? Are you as obsessed with this color as I am?

Coffee Table

I've always been obsessed with beautifully displayed coffee table books, especially ones with stunning covers. The books in my home started on the coffee table, but now they can be found all over (on side tables, in my bedroom, and laying underneath framed photographs). I love to see little book displays around my home, and it has turned into one of my favorite gifts for friends. I try to pick a book that totally fits the personality of the person I'm giving it to, because they can be so unique and charming.

Bohemian Romance

Anthropologie Dress, Madewell Heels and Belt, Urban Outfitters Earrings

Fashion is so trial and error. When getting ready in the morning, it usually takes me a few tries to find the perfect outfit for that day (even if I pick out my outfit at night). I’ve been dying to wear this dress, because it has the perfect bohemian, casual vibe, but I wasn’t sure what to mix it with so it didn’t look too oversized. At last, I ended with a skinny brown belt and my brown wood heels (which I’m not sure I’m loving with it). Trial and error, right? Next time I think I’ll add a chunky necklace. Oh, and my hair has been in this constant braided bang thing for about a week now, and I do not plan on changing it anytime soon.
