You can never go wrong with wearing black for a night out— it's classy and fabulous. There is something about dark colors that instantly makes you feel confident and put-together. I loved this dress because of its flared shape and scooped back, but also because of the beige undertones that show through. Also, wearing darker hues allows you a little more freedom with accessories, which is always fun.

A Gray Area

Lately, every time I walk into a store I am instantly drawn to gray and blueish-gray tones. I am obsessing over this color paired with black or even metallics. My infatuation with the color gray has even overflowed from my closet to my home decor with gray pillows and wall colors — my favorite is Martha Stewart's Sharkey Gray. All Black Everything

I've been enjoying the fact that I can start wearing my oversized sweaters again, now that I’m back from Florida. Sweaters are an item that I tend to splurge on because they last so long and I get a lot of use out of them. I got this Vince sweater last year and have gotten so much use out of it. It is warm and comfy, yet stylish. An oversized sweater with a simple black dress is a nice change from my usual leather jacket.

Window Shopping

Christmas is my favorite time to be in New York. The energy, lights, and window displays make the city look magical. I can't wait to go back in and see more of the displays— like Saks, and see the light-up tree in Rockefeller Center. Gray Matter

When wandering around the city I always try to be fashionable yet functional. I know I am going to need to be able to walk countless avenues and streets, so my outfit and shoes need to allow this. Being comfortable and dressed down does not always mean looking messy. This gray dress is perfect because it's free flowing and is comfy like a light sweatshirt. These pictures represent one of my favorite casual looks. I also wear this dress with black booties for a sleeker look.

Obsession Of The Week

My style changes depending on my mood. Some days I am drawn toward girly fabrics or killer heels, and other days I'd rather just throw on jeans, a tee, and a pair of Converse. I bought my first pair of sans-lace Converse a few years back and lived in them all throughout college. They are perfect for casual days, when you're feeling a little funky, or walking to work or around campus.

Weekend Wrap Up

I made my official return back to Connecticut on Friday for Thanksgiving break. The weekend was mostly dedicated to spending time with my family, but I also got to make a quick visit to NYC. The weather has been beautiful and allowed me to finally get use of my favorite sweaters and boots. Being back in Connecticut is giving me holiday cheer, because of the cooler temps, seasonally flavored hot drinks, and the energy in the city that accompanies the holiday season.
