Seeing Stripes

H&M

Stripes are everywhere this season and are even being said to be the trend for fall. Stripes are a cool way to show off your style by pairing them with different fabrics like patterns, solids, or colors. To stay on trend, stick to vertical stripes and avoid horizontal ones. When wearing stripes keep the accessories around your neck simple and overload on jewelry around your wrist and hands like bracelets, cuffs, or a party ring!

Such A Steal

H&M Dress$24.99

I am craving an all laced dress for summer nights as well as to be paired with tights for fall. This H&M lace dress is classy and affordable. I love the long lace sleeves and the shorter length.

DIANE von FURSTENBERG "Layland" Embellished Cami Top
Originally: $496.00
Was: $347.20
Now: $208.32

This is one of my favorite DVF shirts. The pattern is very tribal and it demands attention. It is still pricey (too pricey for a grad student) but I marked it as a steal because it is marked down from $500, and it is DVF.

Madewell Tea Rose Dance Dress
Originally: $148.00
Now: $59.99

This Madewell dress is a steal because it can be worn in the summer, fall, and all winter long. The colors are perfect for all seasons. I love buying dresses that I can wear year long and this dress is exactly what I love to find. Pair it with sandals or fun heels in the summer and tights and ankle booties during the colder months.

The Satchel Bag

Burberry

The satchel bag is my favorite bag that is shown for fall. The structured shape gives it a menswear vibe, almost looking like an old male briefcase. They are fashionable and hold more than you think. I have been eyeing this Rebecca Minkoff one for some time now and there is nothing I dont love about it. Bring out your inner tomboy and pair this bag with a girly outfit like a dress and heels, or a more casual look like jeans and an oversized T-shirt. This is one trend that I wont be missing out on!

One Dress, Five Ways

Theory Dress
I bought this basic black dress a few months ago and am happy to say I’ve gotten my moneys worth. I love wearing this LBD so much that I actually wore it out two weekends in a row (Don't tell anyone). An LBD is a wardrobe staple because it is so versatile and can be worn to almost any occasion. Often people think that you need a million different dresses and items to create unique outfits, but this couldn’t be more wrong! Buying good basics, like this black dress, can help you build so many looks and outfits, and provides a good foundation for any style. You can wear the same dress multiple times and when you pair it with different pieces, no one will ever know. Here are five completely different ways to wear your favorite LBD!

1. Rocker

This style hits close to home for me. In the winter, I live in this leather jacket and love adding studded accessories to any outfit to give it more edge. This look shows how much accessories can transform an outfit! Besides adding leather and studs, try adding lace and chains to give any outfit a rocker vibe.

2. Bohemian

I really like the idea of pairing an oversized, hooded sweater over a dress, which completely transforms the dress. The accessories feel very boho and in tune with the vibe of this casual sweater. This look is comfortable, easy, and the perfect outfit for a cool summer night.

3. Professional

To keep this dress professional looking, pair it with structured accessories like a mens blazer or a skinny belt. Keep the jewelry and heels simple and try to have your hair out of your face. Another way this dress would be work-appropriate is paired with a cardigan, simple necklace, and Mary Jane heels.

4. Hipster

This outfit is casual and comfortable. Chambray is just so hip and gives any outfit a cool-girl vibe. I paired it with a green cargo jacket, which brings the hipster vibes to another level. This outfit really portrays how much wear you can get out of a basic black dress— who would have thought a Theory dress would be the basis of a hipster look? You could also pair this look with Converse.

5. Night Out

A night out on the town is a perfect excuse to spice up a simple black dress. This sparkly, sequined jacket is a knockout evening piece and is the focal point of the outfit. When I wear this jacket during the day or at night, I try to keep my other accessories very simple, so I lean toward neutral shades and simple jewelry so the look isn’t over the top. The jacket dresses up the basic LBD and is so fun! It can even be a confidence booster too, because who doesn’t feel special in sparkles?

Obsession Of The Week

To most of my friends I am known as a gym rat. I am borderline obsessed with working out and usually try to get a few workouts in per day, whether it is kickboxing, boxing, spinning, or lifting weights. It feels like I’m always either heading to or from the gym, attending multiple classes per day, so this lululemon gym bag was great purchase. I can fit my sneakers, water, a towel, and even my boxing gloves and wraps in it, and plus it’s fashionable too!

What's in my gym bag?

1. Sneakers (I love this nike pair)
2. Extra Clothes
3. Power Bar (My favorite is Think Thin. They are gluten free too!!)
4. Boxing Gloves
5. Towel
6. Water and more water!!

Weekend Wrap Up

Madewell Skirt and Shirt, Rebecca Minkoff Bag

This weekend was filled with a lot of laughs. Saturday was another beach day, except this time I'm finally admitting to everyone how much I hate the beach (I don't think I've ever said that out loud). I don't like the sand, salt water, or beach bugs. I would sit by a pool for days and be completely relaxed but the beach just doesn't do it for me— maybe it’s the competitive swimmer in me. On Sunday, the cloudy weather gave my mother, my friend, and me a reason to avoid the beach and explore the side walk sales on Greenwhich Ave. We didn't discover any "good finds" at the sales, but we did get our favorite salads at Meli Melo and sample their homemade ice cream, which was the most delicious thing I've ever tasted.

Soft Waves and Patterned Purples

Vintage Scarf, Madewell Dress, Nine West Heels, Kate Spade and Calypso Bracelets

I love love love this Madewell dress. It's one of those dresses that you wear once and cannot wait to wear again. The dress looks conservative from the front with it’s high neckline and little sleeves, but in the back it cuts open to reveal your lower back. It's just enough sass! I paired this dress with my orange and pink heels, which are so comfy! I need to repeat this outfit soon!

Bohemian Rocker

Madewell Dress and Belt, J.Crew Sandals, House of Harlow Earrings

My style tends to change depending on my mood and the weather. In the winter, I am drawn to leather, lace, and rocker, studded everything. In the summer, I love bohemian inspired outfits that are chic and effortless. Today I decided to mix my two styles together by pairing leather studded bracelets with a white eyelet dress. I love white dresses in the summer (my favorites seen HereHere, and Herebecause they feel so fresh and ethereal! Integrating studs and leather gives the dress more edge. Does your style change with the weather?

Breezy Blush

Madewell Tank and Belt, nine3two Skirt

I bought this fabulous skirt from Nordstrom’s summer sale last week. Now that fall items are starting to arrive in stores, the summer collections are being marked down to great prices. This is a big plus for me, as I’m attending grad school in Florida in the fall, and can extend the wear of my summer pieces, like this skirt, past August. Even if it does get a little chilly, I can easily winterize this skirt with a big sweater or scarf. I love shopping the summer sale items around this time, because you can find great items for such reasonable prices! This blush-toned skirt complements so many pieces I already have in my closet. When paired with a simple tank and wide brown belt, it creates an effortless, downtown-chic look. While I wear tons of dresses, I also like skirts because you can really show off your individual style, by what you pair them with, and how you personalize the look, versus a dress, which, barring accessories is already a complete look. Having a simple silhouette leaves more room for funky jewelry, which I love. Don’t be afraid, pile it on and go!

Obsession Of The Week

Moroccan Oil Curl Control Cream

Everyone wants that sun-kissed beach hair, that looks like you jumped out of the shower and didn't do anything to your natural wavy locks. I found the perfect solution for girls that want to soften their tight curls. I've been using this Moroccan Oil all summer long and love it because it gives me soft beach waves all day long that look natural and effortless. I have very thick hair and only use about a dime sized amount or one pump. Be careful not to use too much— a little goes a long way.

All For Charity

Yesterday I volunteered at a Lions Club Golf Tournament. I was in charge of taking pictures, selling raffle tickets and of course keeping the golfers hydrated. It was 90 degrees and HOT. I opted to wear an orange and white printed maxi dress since I'm not too keen on golf attire— could you imagine me in a polo, gingham belt and Bermuda shorts? Believe it or not, in high school I dressed extremely preppy and used to wear tons of Lily Pulitzer and J.Crew! I thought my maxi dress was a perfect choice for running around the course. It's for charity, right? Can't be taken too seriously.
