Twenty Three

My 22nd birthday- can’t believe this was a year ago

Today is my 23rd birthday. It feels like just yesterday I was celebrating 21 with my best friends in NYC- time flies. I think being in your 20s is fabulous and a fearless timeThis is a time where you can experiment with personal style and express yourself through your clothes. You are adult, yet you can still get away with acting and dressing a little sassy. Individual style is one of my favorite things so use this essential time in your 20s to express yourself! Since I just moved to Florida last week, my birthday will be low key and relaxing: a spa day and dinner with my mom. I better pick a fun outfit!

 Teen Vogue Event in NYC

I can’t believe all that has happened since my last birthday. I went to a Teen Vogue event in NYC, celebrated New Years Eve with amazing friends, spent school vacations on the Florida beaches, graduated college, and moved for grad school. Lots of change, but it’s been a great year!

Trend Alert

I like to walk around my favorite stores regularly for clothing inspiration. During my most recent mall run I fell in love with color-blocked shoes for fall. Black tights are one of my favorite things about the fall and winter and all of these color blocked heels feel like they were made to be paired with black tights. When wearing heels like this I would keep my dress on the simpler side so that the shoes would be the focal point of the outfit. How would you work this trend?

Obsession Of The Week

I’ve been making Jillian Harris's Complexion Smoothie for quite some time and love it. This smoothie has become part of my routine and when I return home from my early morning workouts, I find myself craving it. The smoothie is healthy, tastes delicious, and keeps me cool on hot, humid Florida days. Have you tried this smoothie? What are your favorite healthy smoothie recipes with wheatgrass?

Weekend Wrap Up

Display at Anthropologie

I dedicated this weekend to organizing my life. From getting books for graduate school and starting on homework to unpacking my clothes and getting my room together, I had a busy weekend. Tasks like that sometimes get prioritized last on the list, but it always feels good to get them done. In Addition to organizing, my weekend also included lounging by the pool, furniture shopping with my mom, stopping by the outdoor mall for doses of inspiration, and picking up my new favorite gluten free pizza from Pizza Fushion. What was your weekend filled with?

Obsession Of The Week

I read about this Guerlain bronzer and needed to go to Sephora and try it out. The tiny bronzer balls have light and dark shades that illuminate your skin- and they're pretty too! I apply mine after all my make up is on to get a sun kissed look and gives you that craved "JLo glow." You can also use all the lighter shades for eye shadows and blush. Using a big brush to apply makes me feel feminine and a little old fashioned. Have you tried this? What are your thoughts?

Stay On Trend

Five fall fashion trends I won't be missing out on:

1. Polka Dots

Polka dots are feminine and young. They are such a fun way to mix different patterns with polka dots and embrace the trend. My favorite find is this green Madewell skirt seen here, but I'm also loving sheer blouses with a subtle polka dot pattern for a more structured look.

2. Emerald Green Hues

I've been obsessing over emerald green earrings ever since Angelina Jolie wore a pair to the 2009 Oscars. Not only do I love emerald green earrings, I love how the color is being shown in dresses, sweaters
and even nails!

3. Maxi skirts paired with comfy sweaters

I am so excited that maxi skirts are still huge for fall. Longer lengths are being shown mixed with comfy sweaters. Maxis are typically associated with summer so I love that we’ll be able to get another season’s wear out of our favorite skirts. I cannot wait until the Florida weather gets a little cooler to try this trend!

4. Satchel Bags

Satchel Bags are the "it" bag for fall and one of my favorites because it has such a masculine vibe. They can also be transitioned from day to night, making them super versatile.  Read all about my favorite Satchel Bags here.

5. Lace

I love mixing lace with leather. Lace is such a girly, dainty fabric and when mixed with leather
, it toughens up the lace and makes it more rocker, with a tough girl vibe. It's fun to mix contrasting pieces and showcase your own personal style.

Weekend Wrap Up

My weekend was filled with unpacking from my quick getaway to Maine and repacking for my big move to Florida. I wish I could say I did something more exciting. I will be attending graduate school in Florida starting today and I'm pretty nervous. Choosing between school in NYC and Florida was a hard decision but Florida was the right one. I am excited to get settled, start school, and meet new people. How was your weekend? I hope it was more relaxing than mine!

5 Hairstyles Under 5 Minutes

1. Side Braid

We all want to have great hair when leaving the house but most do not have time to make it smooth and blown out every single time-  especially when your hair is thick and curly like mine. Here are some of my favorite easy hairstyles that take less than 5 minutes. Even though they're so simple, they're still effortlessly chic. What is your go-to hair style when in a rush? Mine? The side braid.

2. Ballerina Bun

3. Natural Waves

4. Braided Bangs

5. Sky High Ponytail

Quick Getaway

It's been such a crazy week. The summer flew by and I am officially moving to Florida on Sunday— crazy, right?! I've been busy packing/shipping my favorite things to the sunshine state and also preparing for my quick vacation. On Saturday, my family and I left for Maine for the week. While my week is being cut short due to moving, spending time boating, swimming, and fishing (only the guys of course!) gives everyone a little relaxation period before preparing for fall. Bringing a city girl to the suburbs of Maine is a hard transition, so thankfully it’s only for a few days! Here are a few pictures of my vacation.

Obsession Of The Week

Obsession of the week? More like obsession of my life. I love pairing my grandmother's old jewelry with my everyday stuff. It's always fun to mix expensive and inexpensive items, or in my case vintage jewelry with everyday wear. I usually wear my grandmother’s vintage heart pendant around my neck, but this week I’ve been wearing her old tennis bracelets too— mixing them in with my beaded ones. Not only is it fun to mix things up, but it’s also a daily reminder of the person you love, and in my case, miss.

Casual Chambray

Madewell Skirt and Top, J.Crew Necklace, Tommy Bahama Hat

Due to all my clothes being either packed or shipped I've been dressing very casual lately. Flat sandals, maxi's or short skirts and button downs. I found this skirt at Madewell recently and envisioned wearing it in the fall with tights and a casual top, but why save it for the fall when it works now? With the darker tones in the skirt I decided to pair it with a chambray top and fun jewelry. I love buying clothes that can be worn all year long and this is no exception
