Breezy Blush

Madewell Tank and Belt, nine3two Skirt

I bought this fabulous skirt from Nordstrom’s summer sale last week. Now that fall items are starting to arrive in stores, the summer collections are being marked down to great prices. This is a big plus for me, as I’m attending grad school in Florida in the fall, and can extend the wear of my summer pieces, like this skirt, past August. Even if it does get a little chilly, I can easily winterize this skirt with a big sweater or scarf. I love shopping the summer sale items around this time, because you can find great items for such reasonable prices! This blush-toned skirt complements so many pieces I already have in my closet. When paired with a simple tank and wide brown belt, it creates an effortless, downtown-chic look. While I wear tons of dresses, I also like skirts because you can really show off your individual style, by what you pair them with, and how you personalize the look, versus a dress, which, barring accessories is already a complete look. Having a simple silhouette leaves more room for funky jewelry, which I love. Don’t be afraid, pile it on and go!

  1. Hi Alexa!

I love your blog. I noticed how often you wear maxi dresses and skirts and was just wondering when you think you should stop wearing them as summer ends. Is it ok to wear them in early fall or just until the end of august? Thanks!

  2. Hi Lauren, I do love Maxi skirts and dresses and it is completely ok to continue to wear them into the fall. Pair it with a boyfriend sweater or for a more structured look, a blazer! You can follow Bright and Sassy on twitter: @alexanicoleb or 'like' Bright and Sassy on Facebook. Thanks for reading.

  3. Thanks! That's great advice. I never thoguht to wear a maxi with a blazer but I'm going to try it now!
