Summer Style

Transitioning from season to season can be quite challenging, especially at the beginning when the weather can't seem to make up its mind. Here are some of my favorite warm weather looks to get you inspired for the upcoming months.

Jean jackets are so easy in the Summer months (and now).  As the sun goes down, throwing on a jean jacket is the easiest way to keep your style and stay warm. I love jean jackets over flirty dresses, like this one. And a good pair of wedges is a must.

I'm a rocker girl at heart, so if you tend to skip the dainty fabrics, this is your look. Pairing a leather vest is the easiest way to make a dress a bit edgier. Leather can be hot, so opting for a vest is the best alternative. Gladiator sandals are comfy and help causal out the maxi dress for day. Pair with heels for a perfect night time look.

This is one of my favorites. I love maxi skirts, and I love chambray. You can tuck this top in to the skirt, leave it out, or, my favorite, tie it in a knot at the top of the skirt. And how cute are these shoes? I love the little metallic heel— perfect for day!

I've been wearing my white vest a lot lately. I pair it with anything from jeans to dresses. This is perfect for a nice little dinner date or during the day with a nice pair of beige sandals. I've been lusting over this Reed Krakoff bag, so I had to add it!

Weekend in The City

 I spent the weekend in New York City celebrating my boyfriend's birthday! The trip was short and sweet but completely worth it. I love being back in New York, seeing old friends and, visiting my favorite spots.

On Saturday night we took a boat cruise around the Hudson River. The view of New York was spectacular and charming. It made me fall in love with this beautiful city all over again. My favorite parts were getting up close and personal with the Statue of Liberty and casually cruising under the Brooklyn Bridge. Wow, that was pretty cool.

The rest of the weekend was relaxing. We walked around the farmers market in Union Square, hit up the beer filling station in Chelsea Market, and ate one too many "Baked by Melissa" cupcakes. Unfortunately, the weather didn't hold up, but we made the best of it, which included plenty of umbrella selfies. 

Laid Back Bohemian

I can't deny my love affair with tie dye pieces, especially those of longer lengths. The fit of this dress is perfect and the colorful cinched waist is an added bonus. Also, jeweled headbands are the easiest way to remix your everyday hair look. After spending way too much time blowdrying my hair, the last thing I want to do is style it. Throwing on a fun headband always gives my hair a little sass that is much needed.

 

Black and White Stripes

Due to my mom's inability to walk through a store, and not pick up every striped piece they offer, I've been trained to avoid buying stripes, because I can just steal borrow hers. I made an exception for this dress, because the fit and flare style is too perfect. I saw this dress on Miranda Kerr. She paired it with a denim vest, which happens to be one of my favorite looks. I could not believe it was from Express — a store I rarely ever shop in. To my surprise, they had one left (on sale) and now it's mine!

Wear the Pants

These black pants have been such a staple in my wardrobe lately. When I'm confused about what to wear, in a little fashion rut, or running low on time, I turn to these pants. The wide leg fit allows me to pair almost anything in my closet with them (from graphic tees to silk blouses), and no matter what I pair, I feel put together. I love a piece of clothing that makes getting ready pretty effortless.

Is there anything better than a white dress? Ok, I take that back. Maybe a black dress is a tiny bit better, but the Summer months are approaching and light colors suite the hot days much better. I find this dress to be perfect for Summer. It's flowy, lightweight, and provides a perfect canvas for bohemian accessories. What could be better?
